Citi Global Strategy is responsible for driving strategic initiatives and new business development opportunities across Citi.  The group offers a lean structure with the potential for significant senior management exposure, as well as a unique view into one of the world's pre-eminent international financial institutions.

 

The Global Cards Strategy Group Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead the Global Cards strategic planning process based on fact based analysis
  • Guide / execute analysis of our markets, competitors, and customers using internal and external resources
  • Drive Global Corporate Strategy initiatives around growth, investments, capital and expense optimization
  • Conduct organic growth initiative development and prioritization, and portfolio assessment
  • Identify opportunities and issues of strategic importance to Citi Cards
  • Develop recommendations to advise Citi's senior management on high-priority initiatives, including growth strategy, product and segment strategies, and cross business initiatives
  • Support performance measurement and management ranging from strategic franchise development scorecards to project/function-specific metrics
  • Coordinate communications with key internals (e.g. Citi executive leadership and Board) and external stakeholders (e.g. investor community, regulators)
  • Actively recruit and develop team members, including placement out of the Strategy function into other roles in the Global Cards/Consumer businesses


Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics or another quantitative discipline
  • A top-tier MBA or other relevant graduate degree is also required
  • 10 years experience in the consumer banking/credit cards industry including extensive experience in strategy development and execution
  • 5-7 years of experience with a major consulting firm, including 2-3 years of senior engagement management roles with client assignments in the Cards and Payments industry
  • In-depth understanding of the business and financial drivers for Cards
  • Working knowledge of the Cards business system (from sales and marketing and risk management to operations and service delivery)
  • Ability to lead and direct a team of knowledge professionals
  • Strong problem structuring and analytic capabilities; ability to take a complex problem and organize it in discrete pieces for solution
  • Ability to size and prioritize large-scale initiatives across businesses
  • Ability to work effectively with senior and middle level managers and with large interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, active-listening); ability to structure and deliver clearly articulate presentations
  • An understanding of Citi's North America consumer businesses and preexisting senior / middle management relationships are useful
